In-Person Opportunities
Kit Assembler Volunteers
Our kit assembly events are where the spirit of Grace Helping Hands truly shines. Volunteers of all ages come together to pack hygiene kits filled with care, purpose, and dignity.
We meet monthly to assemble these kits, which are then distributed throughout Maryland. Event details are shared two weeks in advance through our newsletter, website, and social media — and this opportunity is eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.
These events are hands-on, rewarding, and filled with community connection. Spend a day with us and see your time make a direct impact.
Kit Distribution Volunteers
Each distribution event is held in partnership with shelters and outreach organizations such as City of Refuge Baltimore, Progress Place, Helping Up Mission, and Shepherd’s Table.
Volunteers help unload, organize, and distribute kits — often alongside meal programs, health screenings, or clothing drives hosted by our partners. Together, we ensure that every individual receives their kit with care and dignity in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
These roles are perfect for individuals, families, or groups who want to serve hands-on in the community. They involve direct participation in events, outreach, and physical kit assembly or distribution. All positions are eligible for SSL hours; great for schools, faith groups, or corporate teams.
Remote Opportunities
These roles are ideal for those who prefer flexible, online work from home. You can make a lasting impact through writing, communication, coordination, or digital support. All roles are virtual, with a time commitment of 3-6 hours a week, regular check-ins, and team collaboration via Microsoft Teams.
User Management Volunteer
This role is ideal for someone who’s tech-savvy and organized. User Management Volunteers help coordinate internal systems by managing volunteer accounts, email access, and communication tools. Your attention to detail helps our teams collaborate smoothly and stay connected.
Policy Creation Volunteer
Help shape the framework that supports Grace Helping Hands. As a Policies Creation Volunteer, you’ll contribute to developing, reviewing, and refining policies that guide our operations, governance, and volunteer engagement. Your insights will help strengthen our foundation for sustainable growth.
Organizational & Administrative Support Roles
Volunteer Coordinator
Help build and strengthen our volunteer community by recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining meaningful relationships with both new and existing volunteers.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people and helping others find meaningful ways to serve. Your work ensures that every volunteer feels valued and supported from day one, laying the foundation for a thriving, mission-driven team.
Inquiries Team Volunteer
Be the friendly first point of contact for potential volunteers! The Inquiries Team welcomes, screens, and guides applicants through the initial steps of the volunteer process, ensuring that only the most committed and passionate individuals move forward. You’ll help new volunteers feel informed and excited to get started, playing a key role in growing a dedicated community of change-makers.
Admin Support Volunteer
Are you organized, reliable, and detail-oriented? Our Admin Support Volunteers help keep Grace Helping Hands running smoothly by managing essential behind-the-scenes tasks like data entry, scheduling, responding to inquiries, and organizing records.
You’ll also assist with volunteer coordination and communications that keep our efforts flowing efficiently. Your work ensures that our team stays focused on what matters most — serving women and families in need.
IT Volunteer
Help keep our digital tools and systems running efficiently and securely. As an IT Volunteer, you’ll provide technical support, troubleshoot basic issues, and maintain our online systems so the Grace Helping Hands team can operate smoothly and confidently.
Newsletter Volunteer

Newsletter Volunteers help create and organize content for our monthly updates — highlighting upcoming events, volunteer stories, and impact milestones. Your words will help inspire continued community involvement and donor support.

Content Creation Volunteers craft engaging updates and posts for our website and social media platforms, sharing our mission, milestones, and volunteer experiences. Your creativity and storytelling skills will help connect the community to the heart of Grace Helping Hands — compassion, care, and hope.
Website Volunteer
If you’re passionate about maintaining a strong online presence, this role is for you! Website Volunteers ensure that our website remains accurate, user-friendly, and inspiring.
You’ll help post new content, update event details, and keep our site running smoothly so visitors can easily learn about our mission and how to get involved.
Advocacy and Fundraising Roles
Advocacy & Writing Volunteer
Use your writing to make an impact. Advocacy & Writing Campaign Volunteers help raise awareness about the needs of homeless women and children by drafting letters and emails to local legislators, businesses, and manufacturers to encourage support for Grace Helping Hands. It’s a powerful way to help influence change and gain valuable experience in community advocacy — all from home.
Grant & Research Volunteer
Use your writing and research skills to help secure funding for our mission. Grant Research & Writing Volunteers identify grant opportunities, draft proposals, and help maintain submission calendars to ensure we meet key deadlines. Your contributions directly support our ability to continue providing hygiene kits and outreach to women and families across Maryland.
